Significant milestone in the history of the Slovak Judicial Council was becoming a member of the European Network of the Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ) in 2005.

ENCJ is a not-for-profit association based in Brussels, which aims to improve the cooperation between, and good mutual understanding amongst, the Councils for the Judiciary and the members of the judiciary of both the European Union Member States and of any European Union candidate Member States.

The Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic has been actively participating in the ENCJ working groups and projects, e.g. in the field of the judicial ethics, independent councils for the judiciary, minimum standards regarding recruitment, selection, appointment and promotion of members of the judiciary or in the project which dealt with the issue of submitting the requests for cooperation to the ENCJ, etc.
