A delegation of the National Judicial Council of Hungary visited the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic
A delegation of the National Judicial Council of Hungary, led by its President Csaba Pecsenye visited the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic. This was the second bilateral meeting between the representatives of the two judicial councils, which are both members of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary. The first meeting took place last year in Budapest.
At the outset, the president of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Marcela Kosová, informed the Hungarian representatives of the Slovak Judicial Council's competencies and tasks. The Council´s Office introduced the delegation to the history of the Vice Governor´s Palace, the seat of the Judicial Council. The presentation was followed by a tour of the building, highlighting its historical and architectural features.
The program also included a visit to the Palace of Justice in Bratislava, where the delegation was welcomed by the President of the Bratislava Regional Court, Boris Tóth. At the Palace of Justice, the representatives of the Hungarian Judicial Council learned about historically significant criminal trials held there, including those of Jozef Tiso and Gustáv Husák.
“Meetings with our Hungarian colleagues are always pleasant, and all discussions, even informal ones, are enriching. We jointly agreed that we encounter almost the same difficulties as Hungarian judges or the Hungarian Judicial Council”, concluded Marcela Kosová.
