For the first time in history, a ceremonial thanks event will be held this week to thank judges who have dedicated their entire working lives to the judicial profession. Their term of office is coming to an end this year due to reaching retirement age. Similar to the appointment ceremony, the end of their term in judicial office will also be in the form of a ceremonial act at the Presidential Palace. This ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m.

The President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, and the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Marcela Kosová, will personally bid farewell to twenty Slovak judges emeritus and will thank them for their work. In this way, they will establish a new tradition of a dignified farewell to the departing judges, which has been absent until now. Both constitutional officials are aware of the importance of the judiciary in building the rule of law.

"I appreciate not only the attitude of the President but also the work and commitment of the staff of the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic, who, in cooperation with the staff of the Office of the Judicial Council, have made an effort to prepare and ensure a dignified farewell ceremony for these judges," said Marcela Kosová.

Among the judges participating in the ceremony, are judges of municipal, regional and district courts, the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic and the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic. The largest number of these judges emeritus worked in the Košice Region.
