President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic met Federal Judge of the USA Mr. David Campbell

President of the Slovak Judicial Council, Mr. Jan Mazak, welcomed in the seat of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic Mr. David Campbell, Judge of the First Instance Court of the Arizona District Court of the USA and Chairman of the Committee for the International Relations of the USA Courts´.

They discussed mainly the functioning of the Slovak judicial system. Mr. Mazak drew especially the attention on the constitutional and legislative changes of the Slovak judiciary which were adopted in 2020. As Mr. Mazak said: „I informe His honour Judge Campbell  about the reform of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, as well as the  selection procedure of the new Slovak judges, the new judicial map and about the verification of the prerequisites for judicial competence. The issues of the judicial ethics and independence of judges were discussed too. They exchanged their views on the democracy in the judiciary notably when it comes to maintenance legal systems. President of the Judicial Council emphasized the need of the new Slovak judges with high moral standards to avoid problems Slovak judiciary faces today.
