Reaction of the President of the Judicial Council to the brutal attack on a judge

The President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Marcela Kosová, was deeply concerned to learn of the brutal attack on a judge in her home. She immediately contacted the president of the district court where the attacked judge works. "I strongly condemn any attack on judges, and not just me, but the entire Judicial Council. We have repeatedly warned the media and the public that verbal attacks on judges are a dangerous phenomenon that must be stopped, and that they are not only increasing in number but also in intensity," said Marcela Kosová.

It is unthinkable that something like this could happen in the Slovak judiciary. Society is extremely polarized, and judges are often the target of hateful public statements. "I was primarily concerned about whether my colleague was okay. I assured the president of the court that they could count on my full support," concluded Marcela Kosová.
