The Judicial Council has once again approached pupils

On April 8, 2025 students of 8th grade from Černyševského Elementary School visited the seat of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic today. They took part in the project "Justice for Children", which has been organized by the Office of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic for more than seven years. The interactive educational project aims to introduce the general public to the most important tasks and competencies of the Judicial Council, as well as to learn more about the functioning of the judicial system. Pupils and students can also meet directly with the leadership of the Judicial Council. Also this time, the President of the highest constitutional body of judicial legitimacy could not miss this visit. "I am very happy that the interest from students and pupils is persisting; it is even multiplying. Children are interested in everything from how to become a judge to the history of this Palace", said Marcela Kosova.

The excursion concept is built to complement and expand the curriculum of the Civics subject. The content fits into the curriculum of primary and secondary schools. The interactive way of learning also makes the teaching process more effective. "Within the Civics framework, we have taken up the topic of the separation of powers, which also includes the judiciary. I wanted to introduce pupils to the principles of its functioning in a different way. I found out on the Internet that there was this possibility of taking a trip and I did not hesitate", said Iveta Valkova, a teacher at Černyševského Primary School.

The added value of the excursion is not only the interpretation of the history of the Vice Governor's Palace, where the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic is located but also a simulated court hearing directly in the former hearing room. The excursion also includes a tour of the palace. Visitors can take a look into areas that are not normally accessible to the public. As practice shows, this method has proved successful and attracts the attention of children. "The pupils enjoyed the excursion immensely. They saw the Judicial Council, how it carries out its functions, and how it all works. I think that if they see it with their own eyes, they will remember it better", believes Iveta Valkova from Černyševského Primary School. The excursion is an enrichment of the normal teaching process and helps to transform a traditional school into a modern one.

The interest in excursions is growing year by year and also schools located outside the Bratislava Region are registering. The organisation of excursions is always in line with the work activities of the President of the Judicial Council.
