The judiciary has received a new reinforcement
Today the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, appointed nine judges of general courts and one judge of the administrative court. The president of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Marcela Kosová, also took part in the ceremony in the Presidential Palace. Currently, the judiciary is undersized, so this is a significant step towards building credibility in the judiciary and the rule of law. "I believe that you will fulfill your duties responsibly, conscientiously and honestly, and that you will serve justice with dedication," said Peter Pellegrini in his speech to the judges.
The appointed judges will serve in the regional and district courts, and one judge will join the Administrative Court in Banská Bystrica. This new reinforcement in the ranks of justice should contribute to a fair society. It is important that qualified, morally competent, but also independent judges act and make decisions in the judiciary. The Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, which is the constitutional body of judicial legitimacy, is an important pillar. Its members decide who is suitable for this important position and who meets the strict requirements enshrined in the law. "As I told our new colleagues after they were appointed by the President of the Slovak Republic – should they have their hearts in justice and judiciary, they would not allow them to make such decisions that would make their conscience to bite them and would not let anything into their heads except legal regulation. It is a difficult task, but I believe that they will be able to accomplish it", added Marcela Kosová, the President of the Judicial Council.
