The President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic has announced, pursuant to § 27a paragraph 3 of Act No. 185/2002 Coll. on the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts (hereinafter referred to as the “Act on the Judicial Council”), a new election for the Vice President of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic.
The election will take place on December 16, 2025, at 9:00 AM. The reason for announcing the new election is the withdrawal of consent to the candidacy by the originally proposed candidate on August 27, 2025. Consequently, the originally planned election on September 16, 2025, will not take place.
The timing of the election announcement is also related to the expiration of the term of office of the current Vice President of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, Andrea Moravčíková. Her term ends on October 8, 2025.
Authorized proposers pursuant to § 27a paragraph 2 of the Act on the Judicial Council are invited to submit their candidate proposals to the Chairwoman of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic no later than September 30, 2025.
