The President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic repeatedly announces a new election for a candidate for judge of the European Court of Human Rights

The Slovak Republic is still searching for its third candidate to be included on the list of potential judges for the European Court of Human Rights. The June election produced two candidates; therefore, the list remains incomplete.

Therefore, the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Marcela Kosová, announced on June 26, 2025, a new election to supplement the candidates. The deadline for submitting nominations expired on August 22, 2025, without a single candidate being proposed.

For this reason, the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic announced on September 4, 2025, a new election. The new election will take place on December 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the seat of the Judicial Council at Hlavné námestie No. 8 in Bratislava. Authorized proposers may submit nominations for the candidate for judge of the European Court of Human Rights for the Slovak Republic until November 21, 2025.
