The President of the Slovak Republic and the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic want to personally thank the judges emeritus
The performance of the function of a judge is of fundamental social importance and greatly affects not only the lives of individuals but also the entire society. The Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic submits candidates to the President of the Slovak Republic for appointment to the position of judge. The entry of new judges into the judiciary is accompanied by a ceremonial act in the Presidential Palace, during which the future judges take an oath in the hands of the President, by taking which they assume their position.
However, the termination of the function of a judge due to reaching their retirement age was, until recently, accompanied only by a stern official dismissal from the function, delivered by post from the Office of the President, often directly to the courtroom.
The President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, is currently preparing with the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Marcela Kosova, the joint ceremony for the judges who are retiring this year. The goal of both constitutional officials is to personally thank the judges emeritus for their many years of service in the judiciary.
The President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini welcomed the initiative of the President of the Judicial Council, Marcela Kosová, with the belief this official thanks to judges will become a new important and dignified tradition, which the judiciary deserves. The President of the Judicial Council greatly appreciates that she found in the President of the Slovak Republic a person who agreed with her on the importance of such an act.
The Office of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic cooperates closely with the Presidents of both Supreme Courts, all regional, city and district courts in the preparation of this event. "I am very glad that it will be possible to organize a dignified farewell to judges emeritus at the highest constitutional level and in the Presidential Palace. Many of the outgoing judges worked in the judiciary for decades. I believe that we will establish a tradition, thanks to which it will never happen again in the future that retiring judges will be recalled by delivering a decree to the courtroom during the hearing," said Marcela Kosová.
The ceremony of thanking the judges emeritus is to take place on the premises of the Presidential Palace shortly. The President of the Slovak Republic and the President of the Judicial Council will meet on that day with more than thirty judges from all over Slovakia who retired this year. The Office of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic and the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic will inform on specific details of this event.
