Two Supreme Courts elected a member of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic

The Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic and the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic have historically held the first joint elections of one member to the constitutional body of judicial legitimacy - the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic. It officially has one more member after election held on 5th of Februrary 2024. Two candidates, Mr. Marián Fečík and Mr. Michal Novotný (both judges of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic), applied for the important position of a member of the Judicial Council. On the election day, Mr. Peter Melicher, the third candidate for membership and a judge of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, gave up his candidacy. After announcement of the results on 6th of February 2024, it is clear that the candidate Mr. Marián Fečík was successful in the election and became a member of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic . His term will end in 2029.
