With the beginning of a new school year, the Judicial Council is again opening its doors to schools
Also, during this school year, the Office of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic is once again organizing interactive educational excursions for primary and secondary school students. The aim is to bring students closer to the roles and functions of the Judicial Council as well as the work of judges. These excursions complement and expand upon the civics education curriculum. Each year, many pupils and students visit the Judicial Council during the school year.
“Young people have the opportunity to learn more about the origins and history of the Vice Governor’s Palace, which has been the seat of the Judicial Council since 2016. Experiential learning is the best way to bring the judicial system and its functioning closer to pupils and students,” said Marcela Kosová, President of the Judicial Council.
The excursion always includes a simulated court hearing, where pupils and students can try out the roles of judge, prosecutor, defence attorney, or defendant in an actual courtroom.
The "Justice for Children" project continues to grow in popularity, attracting even interest from schools outside the Bratislava Region. The Office of the Judicial Council provides a simple registration form on its website for schools to sign up for the excursion.
“The interest in excursions to the Judicial Council’s headquarters keeps growing, which I’m very pleased about. We recorded one of the excursions in the form of a short video, which can serve as an invitation for those who haven’t decided yet,” concluded Marcela Kosová.
