For the second time this year, the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic has participated in the “AIAKOS” exchange program, which connects young representatives of the judiciary from across the European Union.

As part of this program, the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Marcela Kosová, welcomed participants from France, Romania, and Slovakia on November 3, 2025. The “AIAKOS” exchange program involves Slovak participants spending time abroad while also hosting colleagues from EU Member States during their visit to Slovakia.

The AIAKOS program offers future and early-career judges and prosecutors the opportunity to learn about the judicial systems and traditions of other EU Member States, exchange professional experiences, and gain an understanding of the European dimension of their future profession. These visits are the outcome of cooperation between the Judicial Academy and the European Judicial Training Network. The current visit aimed to introduce the participants to the legal and judicial system of the Slovak Republic, in which the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic plays a significant role.

Marcela Kosová provided the delegation with detailed information on the duties and position of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic; moreover, she answered questions from the delegation members.

"I appreciate that the future judges and prosecutors were interested in the process that a candidate for judge must undergo in Slovakia, as well as the disciplinary proceedings for judges. I explained in detail the current changes in the disciplinary procedures for judges, as well as the composition of the Judicial Council and its various competencies," said Marcela Kosová.
