ENCJ General Assembly gathered in Slovenia from 7th – 9th June 2023

12.06.2023
The annual General Assembly of the European Network of Councils fro Judiciary (hereinafter referred to as the "General Assembly") was held in Slovenia, in its capital, Ljubljana, on 7th -9th June 2023. The Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, which is also a member of the Executive Board of the European Network of Councils for Judiciary, was represented by Ján Mazák. The most significant results of the General Assembly were the unanimous adoption of judicial councils in Bosnia Herzegovina, Moldova and Ukraine as observers in the European Network Councils for Judiciary. One particular important decision of the General Assembly was adoption of the Code of Conduct for Council members, which can be applied by all judicial councils operating in the European Union. This Code of Conduct for members of the judicial council  formulates ethical rules for all who make up judicial councils. The conclusion of the General Assembly included, among other things, the adoption of the Ljubljana Declaration named "Courts fit for the future". The declaration names the basic problems and challenges for the judiciary in the digital age, which will affect, just like artificial intelligence, the exercise of judicial power.
