Interference in the decision-making of courts is unacceptable, even for the Judicial Council
In recent years, it is not an uncommon phenomenon for politicians to abuse judicial power to achieve their political goals. This undesirable phenomenon is particularly noticeable in the case of Member of Parliament and former Minister of Justice, Mária Kolíková, who engages in such behavior in every political group she is part of. Currently, her efforts to undermine the position of the Judicial Council and interfere with the independence of the judicial power concern the disciplinary proceedings of the Judge of the Bratislava IV Municipal Court, Michal Kubiš.
The disciplinary panels of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic are part of the independent and impartial judicial power. Unlike some politicians, the Judicial Council respects their position.
“The Judicial Council will not interfere in ongoing disciplinary proceedings and will not comment on them in any way. Not even at the request of the former Minister of Justice Mária Kolíková. The days when she had an unacceptable influence on the functioning of the Judicial Council are, I believe, irrevocably gone," said Marcela Kosová, President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic.
