The inaugural meeting of the Main Election Commission was held on 16 February 2026 at the seat of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic. Marcela Kosová, the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, convened the meeting on 6 February 2026.

“Dana Jelinková Dudzíková resigned from her position as a Member of the Judicial Council on 19 January 2026, and in accordance with the law, her mandate expired on 20 January 2026. For this reason, on 21 January 2026, I promptly called an election of a Member of the Judicial Council for the Western Slovak electoral district, which will take place on 25 March 2026,” stated Marcela Kosová.

During the inaugural meeting, the Main Election Commission elected its President. Pavol Tomáš assumed this position and subsequently chaired the commission meeting.

“The election of a member of the Judicial Council is not taking place for the first time; therefore, the Main Election Commission has clearly defined competencies and skills in interpreting the law. Everything is prepared for the election,” said Pavol Tomáš.

The nominated candidates for the new Member of the Judicial Council are Zuzana Kučerová, a judge of the Regional Court in Bratislava, and Martin Žovinec, a judge of the Regional Court in Trnava. Zuzana Kučerová was nominated by the Association of Judges of Slovakia and by the councils of judges of the Municipal Court Bratislava I and the District Court Pezinok. The court of judges of the Regional Court in Trnava nominated Martin Žovinec.

The election will take place at assemblies of judges within the Western Slovak electoral district, which comprises the jurisdictions of the Regional Court in Bratislava, the Regional Court in Trnava, the Regional Court in Nitra, the Regional Court in Trenčín, as well as the Specialized Criminal Court and the Administrative Court in Bratislava.
