President of the Judicial Council was removed from the office

The members of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic dismissed the current President Ján Mazák at their fourth meeting this year. Until the election of a new President, Vice-President Ján Gandžala will carry out the duties of the President of the Judicial Council. In addition to its regular agenda, the Judicial Council will also be electing its President in the near future. At least three members of the Judicial Council may propose a candidate for the election of the President of the Judicial Council. It is sufficient if they do so directly on the day of the vote, i.e. at a meeting of the Judicial Council. The results of the election shall be announced at the meeting of the Judicial Council at which the election of the President was held. The election of a new President shall require the affirmative vote of a majority of all the members of the Judicial Council.
