The Candidates for the President of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic
On 15 April 2026, the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic Marcela Kosová, announced a new election for the position of the President of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic.
The new election was announced following the unsuccessful election of a candidate for this position at the April 2026 session of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic. The term of office of the current President of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic, Pavol Naď, will expire on 18 May 2026.
Authorized proposers could submit new candidate nominations to the President of the Judicial Council until 8 May 2026. By the deadline, two nominations for two candidates were submitted. Monika Valašiková was nominated by four judges of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic and by the Association of Judges of Slovakia. Marián Trenčan was nominated by eleven judges of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic and by the judges’ council of the Administrative Court in Bratislava.
The new election for the position of President of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic will take place on 11 August 2026 at 9:00 a.m., at the seat of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic. By that date, the Judicial Council will examine the asset declarations of the candidates and verify whether both candidates meet the requirements of judicial eligibility. To be successful in the election before the Judicial Council, a candidate must obtain an absolute majority of votes of all members of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic.
“The election of the President of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Slovak Republic is among the key competences entrusted to the Judicial Council directly by the Constitution of the Slovak Republic,” stated the President of the Judicial Council, Marcela Kosová.
