The Judicial Council will elect candidates for a post of Slovak judge at the European Court of Human Rights

On 4th of July 2023, the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Ján Mazák, announced the election of three candidates for the post of Slovak judge who will serve on behalf of the Slovak Republic at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The election will take place at the session of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic in September. Entities authorized to submit proposals for candidates for judges of the European Court of Human Rights may do so until 31st of August 2023. The mandate of the current Slovak judge at the European Court of Human Rights, Mrs. Alena Poláčková, will expire on 28th of December 2024. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will elect a new judge for the Slovak Republic already in June 2024 from the list of three candidates presented by the government of the Slovak Republic.
