Curious pupils and students visited the Judicial Council
The number of pupils and students visiting the seat of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic is increasing steadily. This was also the case on October 22 and October 29, 2025. On both days, the meeting room of the Vice Governor´s Palace was filled with questions, perhaps from future lawyers, who showed great interest in the functioning of the Judicial Council and the courts.
These excursions aim to bring the roles and functions of the Judicial Council, as well as judges’ work, closer to students and thus complement their civic education. In October, the eighth-grade pupils from Kysucká Elementary School in Senec and the students of the 3rd and 4th year from the Gymnasium of the St. Francis of Assisi United School visited the premises of the Vice Governor´s palace.
“In my opinion, this is the best way to bring the justice system and its functioning closer to young people. The students and pupils are genuinely asking questions and showing interest in what is happening in the judiciary, which I am happy about,” said the President of the Judicial Council, Marcela Kosová.
At the beginning of the excursion, pupils and students always receive an introduction to the history of the Vice Governor’s Palace, as well as basic information about the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic and its functioning. As has become tradition, the President of the Judicial Council also welcomes them personally and answers their curious questions. In addition, during the palace tour, pupils can try on judges’ robes in the courtroom and even take on the roles of a judge or a defendant.
The Office of the Judicial Council provides a simple online form on its website to register for an excursion. “One of these pleasant visits has been captured in a short video, which can serve as an invitation for those who have not yet decided to visit us,” concluded Marcela Kosová.
