High school students from Šaľa took part in an educational excursion
The Office of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic has been organizing interactive educational excursions for elementary and high school students for years. The aim is to familiarize the public with the tasks and functions of the Judicial Council and their importance for both professionals and laypeople. The excursions complement and extend the civics curriculum. During the excursions, visitors have the opportunity to meet and talk with the current leadership of the Judicial Council. Interest in these excursions is therefore constantly growing.
In May, students from the Juraj Fándly Grammar School in Šaľa visited the premises of the Judicial Council. "I learned about the opportunity to participate in such an excursion from one of my students, who intends to study law. Thanks to him, I learned about you and got in touch," said Professor Nikoleta Marčeková. As is tradition, the students learned more about the origins and history of the Vice-Governor´s Palace, which has been the seat of the Judicial Council since 2016. The most important part was information about the functioning of the Judicial Council. The students heard this in detail directly from the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic, Marcela Kosová. "The students were very nice and it was clear that they were interested in the topics. I am very pleased that we are gradually welcoming more and more young people to the Judicial Council and giving them an insight into how it works," said Marcela Kosová, President of the Judicial Council. They then learned about the importance of the rule of law and the principles of the separation of powers. "Experiential learning is the best kind of learning. In practice, it means exactly what we have experienced today. This is how it should be," said Nikoleta Marčeková. This excursion was also a success, and the remaining classes want to contact the organizing team to request additional dates.
