The Judicial Council has new member
On March 26, 2025, the National Council of the Slovak Republic (Parliament) elected Tomáš Ľalík as a member of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic. He received 89 votes out of 145 deputies present. Tomáš Ľalík works at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava, he is a professor at the Department of Constitutional Law. "I am very glad that the Judicial Council has another member, and that it is Tomáš Ľalík. He is an important legal personality, as evidenced by the number of votes he received in Parliament across the political spectrum. I am looking forward to working with him," said Marcela Kosová, President of the Judicial Council.
According to the Constitution of the Slovak Republic, the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic has 18 members. The Slovak Parliament elects and dismisses three of them. In May last year, the Parliament dismissed two members of the Judicial Council, therefore one more member remains to be elected so that the Judicial Council can work in its full composition.
